The Blunder Years, Episode 39: Why are adults so bad at learning, and how do we improve?

Most training and attempts at knowledge transfer I’ve been to as an adult — especially in a professional context — do not work that well, and we know that from research too. So how do we do better? That’s what this episode tries to spend 38 minutes or so answering.

My guest is Laura Sukorokoff, who is determined to change the practice of management in our business world. She believes managers hold the key to employee engagement and her company, C-Change Learning and Development, exists to guide managers in their efforts to create human-centered workplaces. Laura is, among other things, a business owner, a people leader, a public speaker, an author, a Mom, and a dog lover (not necessarily in that order). Her book, It’s Not Them, It’s You: Why employees ‘break up’ with their managers and what to do about it is due to be released in May 2020.
