Here’s a chart via Quartz, which is in turn via Niche, about the media consumption habits of kids that graduated from high school this May/June. Facebook won for “most daily users” (take that, conventional logic!), YouTube won for most widespread usage, and Instagram won for “most engaged users.” Cool. Now look at this:
Texting kills everything, even Facebook usage. It’s about three times as popular making a phone call or using Google, and about 12 times as popular as the first conventional website on the list — that being BuzzFeed. It’s a different world, and a different marketing landscape now. Tell your story, but tell it differently. Like, uh, via SMS.
They should poll doctors and breakdown the results by age. I’m and MD and I would guess I do about 2/3 to 1/3 texting versus phone calls for Dr. to Dr. communication.
