The ultimate schism of meetings

When you show up prepared for a meeting — which is possible, if not too common — people often look at you like you have six heads, are taken aback, and may even be a bit contentious.

When you show up for a meeting and are gasping, panting, talking about how busy/slammed you are and how you just ran from another meeting and you’re not even sure what this meeting is about, people seem to really like that, be comforted by it, and you win points.

Part of this is “busy as a status symbol,” of course, but how messed up is it that being on-game and prepared for something that takes up a huge chunk of work time is … in some ways a bad thing?

Just a quick thought herein.
